Padraic Moyles talks to Ceili Moore

Irish Dance Director Padraic Moyles talks to Ceili Moore, one of the Judges Choice winners.

What age did you started dancing, how long you have been dancing and for who?
I started doing various styles of dance such as ballet, tap and jazz at the age of 3 and Irish dancing at the age of 3 and a half. I have been dancing for 15 years. I began Irish dancing at the Halloran School. At the age of 11 I moved to Scoil Rince Aisling where I trained under Geraldine French until last year when she retired. I now dance at the Fiona-Gaye Moore Academy, training under my mother Fiona-Gaye Moore. I have also spent several years training in various styles at Langshaw Dancity, Newtown Performing Arts, and now I am currently undergoing full-time dance at Ettingshausens.

Who was/is your dancing idol or inspiration?
My Irish dancing idol and inspiration from the minute I started dancing has always been my mother. She won the world championships at the age of 16 and she has continuously inspired me to always reach for my dreams and to be a better dancer. My old dance teacher Geraldine French has also been a huge inspiration and idol during my dancing career as she has taught me so much and has helped me every step of the way.

Biggest achievement in dancing to-date?
My biggest achievement in Irish dancing to date was placing 2nd at the World Irish Dancing Championships this year (2013) in Boston. This was such an exciting achievement for me and one I will cherish and remember for the rest of my life.

What you expect or feel the live auditions will be like?
I am expecting the live auditions to be filled with lots of excitement, nerves, talent, great music and incredible dancing. I am looking forward to being surrounded by some of the most talented dancers and people, and also looking forward to learning from them, challenging myself and building myself as a dancer during this experience. I am also looking forward to showing the judges what i can do and showing them why I deserve to be in this production. Although I will be filled with nerves I am expecting the audition to be an incredible learning experience and loads of fun!

Which video and which dancer outside of the top 20 was most impressive to you?
There was such a huge amount of talent shown throughout the videos and I was blown away by them all but the video that was most impressive to me was Blaine Donovan’s. His rhythm was impeccable, his footwork was placed so well and I just thought his audition was very exciting and impressive. The dancer outside of the top 20 that was most impressive to me was definitely Olivia Graydon. She showed strength, versatility and her performance was very exciting and showstopping.
